It was reported today in Variety that Stephen Chow, director of Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer will not be directing the silver screen adaptation of The Green Hornet as had been previously announced.  However, he is still on board to play Kato, the role made famous on television by Bruce Lee, opposite Seth Rogen.

Creative differences were cited as the reason Chow stepped down.

I guess, in theory, I’m upset about this, inasmuch as I think Chow is a creative dude.  But the fact is that I don’t really have anything at stake with a Green Hornet movie.  I don’t really care a whit about the show and since Rogen is in it I suppose they are going for a Starsky and Hutch comedy version.  Is there any way this will be a better action comedy than Rogen’s Pineapple Express?

And now our exclusive Stephen Chow interview from WushuKicks.com in conjunction with MTVu.

Who do you guys think should direct the new Green Hornet movie?
